I am still around but haven't been coming to this page because of all of the spam idiots.

Here is a link to a song I wrote about Jerry Quarry called The Contender. If you click on the link it takes you to an audio recording of me singing my song.

Good point I hope Kent is ok! Ang Ive seen that longer version of Quarry-Shavers it was quite an event! It seems Jerry WAS indeed a star back then and considered a major player in the game! It would have been nice to experience a bit of that division with all those guys back then.

Hey, Jim! I wonder where Kent has been? I watched Quarry-Shavers yesterday, the 18-19 minute one on You Tube with the pre-fight introductions of Patterson, Ali, Frazier, Foreman. Great event.

Hey all! Been awhile! Page still a mess I see. Watched Jerry vs Mac Foster yesterday. Sharp, underrated performance from Jerry. When he was on he was ON

Hi Angelo, yep Jerry was 22 . And i'd heard many times, Jack never heard of $125,000 and not about to cancel the bout, Jerry's movement lookde dmore restricted than I'd ever seen him, Yes his chance of a lifetime, may have led to an earlier retirement with a victory, Yet Ellis was in terrible shape at his end.Wished he'd could have made a permanet change to acting in 1969.

JD: That Quarry-Ellis fight haunts me. Every time I watch it, I almost expect Quarry to win. He had an opportunity there---his best opportunity---to win a World Title. He had Ellis hurt and incredibly, didn't press at all to finish him. That was so unlike Jerry Quarry, who was a great finisher. Let him off the hook. Look what he did to Earnie Shavers when he had him hurt. He couldn't do that to Ellis? I have heard his back was hurt. That being the case, he should have postponed.

HEY YOU MUGS! Just re -read an 1998 Ring alltime Top 50 HW with Quarry #27. Jimmy Ellis also had a very good run, beatting his first 5 ranked heavyweight opponents in a row! Persol. Martin, Bonavena, Quarry, and Floyd Patterson. Not only winning the WBA Tournament, And recording 40 Victories (24 by Knockout).

I'm yet pushing my echeloning theory. WBC WBA IBF WBO -R- Boxing's FIRST &major FOUR. ['2e' value = FIVE STATES!] This is advoction ONLY WBC WBA IBF WBO. =strict government, otherwise!= men's league only. "World titles" only!
Two more items I FIGHT AGAINST bb) "duel tri" = pure insanity! cc) Cruiserweight weight set. Needs to go to 195/190 champion's choice. All vacs 190.

Watched Quarry-Patterson 2 the other night! Jerry was laying it on him early! It seemed he let him off the hook but did enough early to win! Great battle nonetheless you can tell Floyd respected Jerry and was very careful of his left

Is anyone really interested in the Mayweather/McGregor fight? I'm mildly curious about how Floyd will win---KO, boring decision, etc. But honestly, really not all that intrigued by this at all.

Posted August 5, 2017 2:22 pm

oh me too, Could not believe what Zanon laid on Jerry, but it was a bad matchup to begin with, Jerry never looked against guys who, jabbed, jabbed, jabbed! I also remember watching it with my dad, and saying Jerry could still Punch, he still has a chance! Also we saw Jerry injure his chest muscle throwing his left hook, and was a one armed fighter after that! Ritchie Giacetti was instumental in the Quarry win!

JD: Just more testimony to the fact that at his core and in his heart, he was a fighter. He wanted to rumble. He gave up a lot to put that late round KO on Zanon. I remember watching that fight the night it happened.
